A lot of good your MBA did you, selling insurance door to door. If you had an MBA one doesn't advertise it and two one would hope you wouldn't be working at Aflac.

The general consumer has been taken in by the promises of Aflac and their inability to pay claims promptly or even at all. I work for Colonial Life and I love it when I go into an Aflac account. 9 out of 10 times I take the account over.

Every company I have visited has a minimum of 1 horror story about Aflac. Also they churn and burn their employees so the business owner never has the same person to deal with.

Location: Woburn, Massachusetts

I sell Aflac and Colonial. Sometimes together.

They both have their strong and weak points. Aflac, in my experience, pays claims much faster than Colonial. Both companies go back and forth in policy design trying to "one-up" the other. It really comes down to the agent delivering.

Aflac does lock rates. Colonial, uh, not so much. From an agent perspective, I prefer to go with the duck. If the employer wants Colonial, that's what we do.

I have only flipped 2 accounts from Colonial to Aflac and that is because they were so unhappy with the service- not the product.

Aflac hires anything that's breathing. Worst company ever!

If you find yourself working for them it means you have horribly failed. If you have an MBA you shoud have a real job! Aflac is a job you take when you get out of prison because no one else will hire you!

Don't worry, Aflac will! :x

What is a real job? I enjoy the freedom sales offers.

Yes, sometimes I work a tremendous amount of hours. I also have the ability to make my own schedule. Degrees mean nothing in sales. I have seen drop-outs make millions because they have a work ethic.

I have seen phd's that can't even pass the state insurance exam.

Education is great, but, ability is greater.

This is incorrect! You can't get an insurance license with a felony much less work for AFLAC.

Individuals fail with AFLAC when they simply do not follow the system and process. You must go to work if you want to see success with this company.

I think this is hysterical!!! I think its awesome 9.9/10 times when I go into an account with a supplemental insurance plan they are with AFLAC!

What is even better is I have saved every single group that I have come in contact with who has Colonial from going any further with them and I get them properly taken care of with Aflac.

Tomorrow I have a 300 man group cancelling their Colonial and coming on board! Just so you know Aflac is hiring!

Aflac has been named number one in supplemental insurance, There not a bail out company like many others... They pay their claims faster than any other insurance company, Their agents are very reliable, and their rates NEVER change, they are a fortune 500 company.. So AFLAC over colonial all day long.

You should probably do some reading on your own instead of reading aflac email. You might learn the truth. JAPAN thanks you for working for them...

RockHopper was PAID by Aflac. You'd have to be a *** to think anything they put out was actually truthful.

Ethics starts at the corporate level and starts with the company that's paid to put "good numbers" together.

Aflac has never raised a Policy rate? Of course not.

They stop selling the policy and introduce a new one with a higher cost and a few new bells and whistles. It's business. They are regulated by the state, so? Did the state have them remove a policy like Long Term care?

It's insurance. It's regulated. Who hired "rockhopper"? was it Aflac themselves is that subjective?

Seriously? Go to Benefits selling magazine. Colonial Life beat EVERYONE flat footed, toe to toe by objective votes, not by a firm they hired. I've worked at both and I would take Colonial Life over Aflac any day of the week.

Its usually people that have never known anything else that are the most loyal. It's not out of disrespect but ignorance. The state kickoff has glitter, smoke, mirrors etc. You walk out of there like a southern revival.

I was in management school and 36 out of 40 attendees were former Aflac. It was the same story and, EVERY one of them had been with Aflac for over 5 years and some over 25 or 30. Succesful agents.

Colonial Life under cuts Aflac?

We're regulated by the states. We're a better value because we can be. We don't pay for commercials. We don't see the need.

We're sales professionals, not product pushers and if you get down to the actual policies, some will be better here will some will be better there. Is that really how you want to sell? We are benefits counselors, not product pushers. I have had 2 accounts out of over 60 to stick with Aflac and because of an existing claim and almost every one else is so sick and tired of a new rep walking in the door and saying the memorized "I realize I'm the 5th Aflac agent here this week, I'm surprised the number isn't more because you fit the exact profile of companies we're currently working with" Really?

5th that week? How are new agents supposed to possible survive if there were 4 agents there that week, last week the week before, Part of the Aflac presentation explains they've been around since 1955 so that means a bunch of agents have hounded the business until they are sick and tired of sales people trapsing in the door. Do objective research. I was sick to my stomach when I left Aflac.

I was "Mr. Aflac to everyone that knew me. I even had the license plate on my car with Aflac on it.

I realized how my life was better after my first car, my first job, my first wife. All of them were difficult to leave but I got over it and have never made more money, been happier and I do feel bad for the ones that won't make money but would fight for the brand out of some mystical loyalty that they will discover is a one way affair, and I do mean affair.

You have got to be kidding! Who would ever believe a Colonial rep? You probably got booted from Aflac, cuz every Colonial rep in CA is a sleeze that couldn't make it in the legitimate insurance companies.

Selling insurance door-to-door? Uh, no. After a decade, I now develop new business relationships based soley on referrals.

You don't really understand what an MBA is, do you? It is a graduate degree in business management, and has helped me tremendously in my career as a small business owner, contrated to sell supplemental health policies for the largest provider in the world. The coursework I completed in business writing, communications, public speaking, etc, have all served me well and helped make me the agent I am today.

And what is this "if you have an MBA, you don't advertise it." Huh? What? I am not 'advertising' it; I used to as a point of reference to describe what a 'true' Ponzi scheme was (all business students learn about this) and the fact that Aflac IS NOT ONE, and doesn't even come close to the definition.

You are extremely defensive and intimidated, huh?

I signed up for Aflac in August, my first debit was to be taken from my checking account Sept. 15th, when this did not happen I called to ask what the hold up was saying, "I already have an auto insurance company that likes to debit my account whenever they feel fit, I would not like the same from your company and since you said it would be directly on the 15th every month unless a weekend, I demand just that- also since this has not happened I would like to cancel the policices all together" they apologized after days of painstaking calls and excuses "oh the paperwork is still being put in...blah blah (they said at this time I had NO policies and NONE were even finished being entered into the system" they canceled my policy finally after some back and forth and faxing documents with my signatures.

ON DECEMBER 16 I was checking my account for the balance and to see about what christmas gifts I could by and find money missing so I further checked statements and found that AFLAC has been billing me for policies "i never had" since Sept 27 this would be days AFTER i canceled my policiy!!!!!!!!!!! They, as far as I am concerned, owe me for a few overdraft fees as well as every cent they took for these policies! I had my agent crying and asking me to take a personal check from her she feels so bad (THATS NOT RIGHT EITHER AAAAAAAAAAAflac) my agent should not be the only one who cares! I give Aflac a HORRIBLE rating and would also never ever refer my worst enemy or complete stranger to them!

:(

Here is some quick food for thought. Aflac is the number one supplemental insurance company in the world, with a 30%+ market share. The closest competitor of Aflac holds a dismal 5-6% market share.

Many companies, such as Colonial try out "under-bid" Aflac with unethical contracts and small print. Yea your policy is .10$ cheaper per week but the fine print shows lifetime maximum benefits. Not to mention the rate increases that every policy holder hates.

You lock in a price on a policy with Aflac and that is your rate forever. No real gray area there...

The national average of time it takes Aflac to pay a claim is 5 days. This is a statistical fact, so as far as long waits for claims... you must be thinking of your company.

One last thing, my step-father has a cancer policy with some second rate insurance company, has had it for years and honestly forgot about it. 5 years ago he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and fought it for a little over a year. Luckily he won his battle with cancer and has recovered. Two years after he was diagnosed he found his cancer policy and called the company. They informed him that he waited too long and was not entitled to the claim, when the policy was clearly in place and paid for at the time.

In the same situation, Aflac would pay, no matter how long it had been.

Most, if not all of Alfac's policies are extremely straight forward and simplified in an effort to be easily understandable by nearly anyone who can read and write. Eligibility is almost always on a pass or fail basis in an effort to reduce underwriting and administrative fees so that Aflac can continue to beat every competitor's rates and benefits.

I know a business that just dropped Colonial like a rock because they (Colonial) raised the policy rate skyhigh!! Aflac NEVER, EVER, has a rate increase!! FACT !!

If anyone reading this complaint is looking for the real truth, check out Rockhopper Research on competitor loyalty 2009, Cololnial Life Service Goal Report Card, 3rd Quarter 2009, A.M. Best Insurance Reports 2009 edition and the annual statements for companies you are researching.

No company is perfect.

Insurance is a hard field to break into and yes, people come and go. That is true at even with Colonial.

You are a punk *** and your company is really sub-par compared to Aflac or even Combined Insurace. At least those two companies have better ethics and do not get into replacements.
