We have the hospital plan, I had a baby we were both in hospital, they denied that claim stating we were short being with the company a full year, the rep who came to sign us up knew I was pregnant and didn't say you won't be able to claim that. Then my oldest son was in Intensive Care and the hospital for 5-10 days 3 times over the next few years, they denied all those stating that it was pre-existing asthma.

Once again we spoke with a new rep after the pregnancy thing, the new rep informed us that we can starting claiming anything that happened from here on out well that wasn't true as well.

I WARN DO NOT USE AFLAC. It sounds easy and useful but it's a waste of time and money.

Monetary Loss: $15900.

Sounds like you didn't read the policy. If you received your policy and read that your pregnancy wouldn't be covered - you could have cancelled your policy immediately.

If you got the policy for your son who has asthma - again the policy should have stated that it would or would not cover pre-existing conditions. If all this (pregnancy and asthma) is suppose to be covered - have a lawyer write a letter - the insurance companies have to pay what they say on the policy.

True. No documents to refer too!

Called and asked for copy of policy and was sent certificate. Big joke!

You can blame whatever you want to on your rep, but the fact is, YOU received the policy info in the mail at YOUR chosen address. The detailed policy info is about 16 pages long.

You cannot expect a rep to cover that word for word with you. You are responsible for knowing what it contains. Shame on YOU.

Also, insurance policies have underwriting questions so you were asked about pre-existing conditions.

If you told the writing agent that there were pre-existing conditions, then they would not be covered for a period of 1-5 years depending on the policy purchased.

I hope you're enjoying your Obamacare. :)

Most insurance companies of ANY kind will not pay for maternity related bills if you are already pregnant. Health Insurance carriers won't event take you.

The reasoning behind this is because if they did that, everyone would wait until they are pregnant to sign up for insurance or supplemental just to get that benefit and then cancel the policy, creating a huge loss for the company causing everyone's rates to go up.

Also Aflac has a 12 month waiting period on any pre-existing, it states so in the brochures. You may have had a *** Agent, he should have told you that as well.

Maybe you should read your policy on what is covered and what isn't.
